Sheffield’s Best Western Plus Mosborough Hall Hotel has been busy transforming it’s popular Darcy’s restaurant during lockdown. In readiness to welcome diners from April 12th, the Hotel is unveiling new Spring/Summer menus and has completed refurbishments to create a stylish outdoor dining area and a private dining pavilion, which can be booked exclusively for up to six people.

The new menu will focus on relaxed al fresco dining from April 12, 2021, with a selection of wood-fired pizzas freshly cooked in the outdoor oven and authentic BBQ classics.  The menu is served by the Hotel’s team to your table in the pretty courtyard dining space, with new socially distanced seating areas, or to the garden pavilion which offers a more private dining opportunity.

From 17th May, Darcy’s will launch its brasserie dining menu and a new tasting menu, which is available with or without wine pairing.  In addition to a new cocktail menu for the bar and restaurant, which incorporates premium spirits as standard.  Developed by the Hotel’s resident head chef Alex Fretwell and general manager Richard Beck, the Darcy’s menu focuses on high-quality fresh ingredients, locally sourced, and presented with Alex’s simple, contemporary style.  Wine flights have been selected by the Hotel’s sommelier to perfectly match or enhance each course and add to the overall culinary experience.

Chef’s top recommendations from the new menu include the Pork Cheek Potato Cake or Pea and Shallot Tortellini to start, Rump of Lamb served with Creamed Potato and Baby Vegetables with a Mint Jus or Hake Fillet with Smoked Greens, Fondant Potato, Crispy Kale and Curried Oil, followed with a selection of delectable desserts to finish.

The eight-course tasting menu starts at £45 per person and includes a unique combination of the chef’s selections designed to complement one another perfectly.  Within that menu, guests will enjoy Smoked Chicken Roulade, Caesar, Parmesan or Roast Red Pepper Toast, Goats Cheese Curd, Truffle, Yoghurt Sour Dough with Smoked Beef Butter or Yorkshire Blue Cheese Butter.  A starter of Glazed Goats cheese, Pickled Beets, Shallot Puree, Crisps, followed by Mallard Duck, Dripping Potato, Carrot, Kale, Maple Jus or Textures of Wild mushroom Risotto, Parmesan, Truffle Oil.  Diners move on to a pre dessert and dessert course, followed by a selection of local cheeses, then tea or coffee with macaroons to conclude. Wine pairing is available at a price of just £15 per person.

General manager Richard Beck said: “We are extremely excited to be finally welcoming guests back once again.  Lockdown has been an immense challenge of course, but also gave us the opportunity to look at how we could provide guests with an even greater dining experience.  So, keen to match the calibre of the food with the quality of the historic setting, we have developed a range of new dishes that we hope will appeal to local food lovers.”

He added: “Our outdoor renovations have only added to the ambience of the brasserie. It provides a warm and welcoming al fresco courtyard space for socially distanced dining, with a private dining option in our garden area pavilion for a group of up to six. Perfect for a small celebration or family meal after so long apart.”
