Vine Hotels to Manage Transformational Next Generation Hotel in Gateshead

2024 will see the opening of a next generation dual-branded Ibis and Novotel hotel in Gateshead, that’s set to ignite the region’s business and leisure tourism products. And whilst the finished product will be operated under leading hospitality brands from Accor, it will be managed by market leading hotel management, consultancy and development experts, Vine Hotels.

During the months ahead, the people of Gateshead can expect to see the emergence of a 172,000 sq ft, 14-storey hotel in front of their very eyes. The inspiring property will sit at the heart of the waterfront’s ambitious arena-led regeneration scheme, overlooking Newcastle and the River Tyne.

With a combined 344 rooms between the two brands, the hotel promises something for all preferences and price points, including:

  • High-quality low-cost accommodation the Ibis brand is famous for
  • State of the art meetings and events facilities, gym and elegant dining under the Novotel banner

In order for the hotel concept to have the best possible start, Vine Hotels have taken a seat at the development table from the earliest stages, alongside Gateshead Council, the developers Ask Patrizia, and their advisors Cushman & Wakefield.

Their work with the local authority and its strategic partners has proved invaluable for the development of this exciting new build as part of a wider regeneration project.

What is the Vine Hotels Difference to the New Hotel Development?

In a nutshell, Vine Hotels are much more than hotel operators. And whilst they will ultimately manage the property, they have brought a wealth of sector specific insights, vision and consistency to the project from the early days.

As a result of their expertise, they have been well-placed to contribute to and balance the many and varied narratives, priorities and concerns of the Council, investors, and property developers.

“We were brought in from the initial planning stages, enabling us to provide a bigger picture overview”, explains Chief Executive Garin Davies. “It’s been our job to offer a sector specific dimension for the benefit of all key stakeholder groups. Having us on the team from the get-go has equipped them with specialist insights and invited them to look at various scenarios through multiple lenses. We look forward to continuing in this collaborative vein, through the opening and beyond”.

Vine Hotels were chosen as the end-to-end partner due to their formidable track record in not only delivering an international hospitality brand. On top of that, their unique make-up of handpicked operators, financial specialists, and sales and marketing leaders made them an even more compelling proposition for ensuring plans and profitability are fully realised when then the hotel ignites the north east’s hotel stock next year.
